The Bible says in Psalm 96:11-13: “Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof. Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein: then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice before the Lord: for he cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth.”
PROPHECY BOOTCAMP: Our topic for today is titled “The Wrath of the Lamb” (Part 3) from Dr. Ed Hindson’s book “Revelation: Unlocking the Future.”
Another interpretive question in this section has to do with the issue of divine sovereignty and human agency. In other words, who is doing what? Are these judgments directly from the hand of God (cosmic destruction)? Or, are they the result of human conflict (nuclear war)? While it is easy to speculate one way or another, we must let the text of Scripture speak for itself.
The seal judgments result when Christ Himself breaks the seven seals. Yet, these involve people killing one another. They also involve geological forces such as earthquakes and cosmic forces such as the sun, moon, stars, and heavens. The trumpet judgments result from angelic pronouncements and include cosmic and geological forces. They also seem to include demonic forces (locusts from the bottomless pit) and human armies and modern weapons. The bowl judgments follow the same pattern and include the same elements.
