Michael Sam may have run out of arguments.

The free agent defensive end failed to make a lasting positive impression at this year’s inaugural NFL veteran combine after a pair of 5-second 40s.

When asked by NFL.com’s Marc Sessler if he was ready to hang his helmet, Sam replied, “Absolutely not. I’m young. ..I didn’t play last year, but I’m still good. I don’t have injuries, I’m good to play.”

Sam added that he was open to playing in the CFL if the NFL was not an option. “I am very confident that I will be playing football this year somewhere,” he said.

Sam, 25, was selected by the Rams in the seventh round of the 2014 NFL Draft and became the first publicly gay player to be drafted in the league. The Missouri product and 2013 SEC co-defensive player of the year was cut by the team at the end of training camp and waived by the Cowboys in October after joining the practice squad one month earlier.
