Former President Shimon Peres presented former President George W. Bush with the Friends of Zion Award in a ceremony at the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas on Saturday.
Peres told Bush that it was a “great honor to present him with the prize.”
“You have always demonstrated concern for the security of Israel and have worked towards peace,” Peres said.
Peres is the international chair of the Friends of Zion Heritage Center in Jerusalem for which the award is named.
The center says it works to “honor those in the past who showed courage and in some cases sacrificed their lives to protect the Jewish people, we also pay tribute and give thanks for the hundreds who continue to support and love God’s Chosen People.”
