Snoop Dogg is adding executive producer to his résumé. During the rapper’s presentation Friday at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas, he announced the development of a drama series with HBO.
According to a statement, the show will center on a Los Angeles family in the ’80s “whose seemingly idyllic life is turned upside down by the collision of their community and American politics.” Joining Snoop Dogg as producer and director is Allen Hughes, whose previous projects include Menance II Society and The Book of Eli. Rodney Barnes, the executive producer of The Boondocks, will write the series.
