The simple purpose of this broadcast is to motivate, encourage, and exhort you to Just Pray. This radio broadcast is not necessarily for people who already know the secret and power of prayer and who actually practice genuine prayer on a regular basis, rather it is for those who may find it difficult to pray or for people who claim they do not have time to pray. I am convinced that most Christian people do not need to learn how to pray; they need to Just Pray! If I can get you to just pray, all sorts of wonderful things will begin to happen for you, your family, and whatever God has called you to do. We do not pray based upon our subjective feelings, we pray based upon objective facts in the Word of God.

TODAY’S POEM: “Dear Lord, We Pray” by Mary Willcox

Our prayer motivator passage from the Word of God today is Job 8:5-7 which reads: “If thou wouldest seek unto God betimes, and make thy supplication to the Almighty; If thou wert pure and upright; surely now he would awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous. Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.”

Our featured prayer motivator quote is from Robert E. Woods. He said: “We don’t thank God enough for much that He has given us. Our prayers are too often the beggar’s prayer, the prayer that asks for something. We offer too few prayers of thanksgiving and of praise.”

My personal encouragement for you today is this: Prayer is the only discipline of the Christian faith that we are told to do “without ceasing” in I Thessalonians 5:17. Our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, esteemed this matter of prayer very highly. Allow me to remind you that on one occasion Jesus got up a great while before day and prayed. Mark 1:35 states, “And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.” If Jesus Christ had to pray so earnestly, there is no doubt that we, His followers, ought to pray as well.

Our prayer motivator devotional today is titled “THE HINDRANCES TO TRUE PRAYER” part 7 from the book, “Purpose in Prayer” by E.M. Bounds.

“Prayer is a rare gift, not a popular, ready gift. Prayer is not the fruit of natural talents; it is the product of faith, of holiness, of deeply spiritual character. Men learn to. pray as they learn to love. Perfection in simplicity, in humility in faith—these form its chief ingredients. Novices in these graces are not adepts in prayer. It cannot be seized upon by untrained hands; graduates in heaven’s highest school of art can alone touch its finest keys, raise its sweetest, highest notes. Fine material, free finish are requisite. Master workmen are required, for mere journeymen cannot execute the work of prayer.”
