Starbucks Corp. said Tuesday it has launched a small-batch coffee delivery service, part of the coffee giant’s ongoing efforts to entice consumers who crave upscale brews.
Starbucks said the monthly delivery service will allow subscribers to receive small-batch Reserve coffee within three to five days of being roasted at its new roastery in Seattle. Prices range from $24 for a one-month subscription to $288 for a year-long subscription.
A number of independent roasters serving gourmet coffee have attained a cult-like following in recent years, including Stumptown, Intelligentsia and Blue Bottle Coffee. Starbucks wants to woo a growing niche of coffee aficionados who are as interested in where their coffee is grown as oenophiles are about the origin of their wine.
