The African American Chamber of Commerce’s annual awards gala will honor White House Correspondent April Ryan and feature a keynote address by Johnson Publishing CEO Desiree Rogers on Feb. 19.
The African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey will honor White House Correspondent April Ryan with The Politics Award at its Fifth Anniversary Circle of Achievement Awards Gala on Feb. 19 at New Brunswick’s Hyatt Regency.
Each year, the gala recognizes a distinguished group of African-American individuals who have attained a significant level of accomplishment in business, politics, education, sports and/or entertainment. A book signing with Ryan at 5 p.m. will be followed by a cocktail reception at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. and a keynote speech by Johnson Publishing CEO Desiree Rogers and the awards ceremony at 8:15 p.m.
About Ryan, Chamber President John E. Harmon Sr. said in a news release, “We are extremely honored to recognize this distinguished African American and her work underscores the significance of our mission.”
A 26-year journalism veteran, Ryan has been the White House correspondent for American Urban Radio Networks since January of 1997, covering three presidents. She hosts the daily “White House Report” broadcast to the Networks’ nearly 475 affiliated stations nationwide.
