American actress Stacey Dash has sparked outrage after making some very controversial comments about rape victims.
The Clueless actress was invited onto US show Outnumbered to talk about the news that female students at the University of Virginia have been told to avoid parties in an effort to prohibit sexual violence.
And she came out with some very controversial statements during her interview.
Dash began by saying she thought the whole thing was ridiculous.
“I think it’s a good thing for the good girls to be told to stay home, be safe,” she said.
She THEN said: “The other bad girls–bad women–are the ones who like to be naughty, might go out and play and get hurt and then, you know…”
“But the other thing about this is that it then blames the alcohol instead of the person who over-drinks. So it’s like, the same thing with guns. Guns don’t kill people; people kill people. Alcohol doesn’t get you drunk; you get yourself drunk.”
We can’t work out if using that logic she was trying to suggest that rape victims bring assault on themselves.
Reaction on Twitter suggested many people believed this was the point she was trying to make.
