ABC’s freshman hit “How to Get Away With Murder” will be returning for a second season, according to star Viola Davis, who tweeted and posted the news on her Facebook. Though ABC has not officially handed over a renewal, a second season of the ABC Studios drama is a no-brainer.
The latest series from Shonda Rhimes’ Shondaland, “How to Get Away With Murder” is the season’s No. 2-rated new show in adults 18-49, behind only Fox’s “Empire.” It has been the top series in its Thursday 10 p.m. timeslot with every original episode to date.
“HTGAWM” has quickly garnered a huge fanbase, as part of the tweet-friendly Thursday night lineup. (When it returned with its Jan. 29 midseason premiere, 9 of 10 trending U.S. Twitter topics were related to “TGIT” shows.)
The show picked up its first SAG award this month for Viola Davis’ portrayal as Professor Annalise Keating.
