Lashonda Williams, one of the two suspects accused in the Halloween 2014 death of Whitehaven pastor Don Smith, is expected to make her first appearance Jan. 28 in Shelby County Criminal Court.
The 24-year-old is charged with first degree murder. Mississippi tracked down Williams, and her accomplice Roger Reed Jr., 23, 150 miles south of Memphis in Greenville and charged them with first degree murder and aggravated robbery.
Two men walking their dogs in the 3400 block of Lichterman Street in Hickory Hill found Rev. Smith’s body next to a pond the morning of Nov. 1, 2014. He was found shot, police said. His white, four-door 2010 Buick Lacrosse car was missing.
The 57-year-old Rev. Smith had been the pastor of Prospect Park Baptist Church for nearly 30 years.
