Welcome to The Prophet Daniel’s Report. This is report #513. My name is Daniel Whyte III here to remind you that Jesus Christ is coming back soon and that you need to be prepared. This broadcast is not about predictions, nor is it about setting dates as some foolishly have done, however it is all about preparation.

First, today, let’s look at some Signs of His Coming in the news.

The disciples asked Jesus in Matthew 24:3, “What shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” Jesus Christ then went on to give them (and us) clear signs that show us when we can begin to expect to see the coming of the Lord and the end of the world. Those signs include:

1. the appearance of false Christs and false prophets
2. wars and rumors of wars
3. famines
4. pestilences (fatal epidemic diseases)
5. earthquakes in divers (various) places
6. increased persecution of believers
7. the Gospel being preached in all the world
8. signs and great wonders in the heavens (involving the sun, moon, stars, and planetary movements)
9. distress and perplexity among people
10. increased violence “as in the days of Noah”
11. increased homosexuality and sexual immorality “as it was in the days of Lot”
12. the rise of “Gog and Magog” (which many Bible scholars believe refers to Russia)
13. the rise of the “kings of the east” (which many Bible scholars believe refers to China)
14. increase in knowledge (science and technology)
15. apostasy in the church
16. interest in a unified world government to bring about global peace
17. interest in the rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem

The Bible also speaks of other signs which will be evident in “perilous times” in Second Timothy 3. Those signs are people being:

18. selfish
19. covetous
20. boasters
21. proud
22. blasphemers
23. disobedient to parents
24. unthankful
25. unholy
26. without natural affection
27. trucebreakers
28. false accusers
29. incontinent
30. fierce
31. despisers of those that are good
32. traitors
33. heady
34. high-minded
35. lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God
36. having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof.

Other signs of the times which have been gleaned from Scripture include:
37. scoffers who mock of Christ’s return
38. movement toward a one-world religion
39. outpouring of the Holy Spirit
40. outbreak of demonic and occultic activity
41. re-establishment of Israel
42. Arab hostility toward Israel
43. re-unification of Europe
44. movement toward a one-world economy

Looking at world events through the lens of the Word of God, let’s look at some headlines from today’s news that point to the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

First, today, under the Sign category of THE TURMOIL IN ISRAEL & THE MIDDLE EAST — According to the Associated Press, Israel’s Shin Bet security service says it arrested the first known Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) cell operating inside the country. The intelligence agency said Sunday that the seven cell members belong to the country’s Arab minority. It said they were caught just before executing an attack and were practicing on animals how to behead people.

Second, today, under the Sign category of DISTRESS AMONG NATIONS — According to Voice of America News, the European Union is launching new anti-terrorism projects with Muslim countries and increasing its intelligence sharing in the aftermath of deadly attacks in France and violent confrontations in Belgium. EU foreign ministers met Monday in Brussels with the Arab League’s secretary general. Afterwards, the EU foreign affairs chief said the EU will be sharing information on suspected terrorists and possible attacks with many countries throughout the Arab world, Africa and Asia. The ministers said they would avoid writing new legislation or initiating a prolonged military presence on the streets of Europe.

Third, today, under the Sign category of WARS & RUMORS OF WARS — According to The Washington Post, Lebanon and Israel braced for possible retaliation by Hezbollah for the deaths of six of the group’s fighters in an alleged Israeli raid in Syria, as Iran confirmed that one of its senior military commanders was also killed in the attack. The strike on Sunday, in which Israeli helicopters fired missiles at Hezbollah vehicles traveling in a Syrian-controlled portion of the Golan Heights, sent regional tensions soaring at a critical time, prompting fears of another war such as the one that erupted in 2006 with sudden and unexpected ferocity. What form such retaliation might take — or whether there would be any at all — was the subject of intense speculation as the potential for spillover from Syria’s war took yet another unpredictable twist.

Fourth, today, under the Sign category of THE TURMOIL IN ISRAEL & THE MIDDLE EAST — According to the Associated Press, Yemen’s U.S.-backed leadership came under serious threat as government troops clashed with Shiite rebels near the presidential palace and a key military base in what one official called “a step toward a coup.” The militants seized control of state media in fierce fighting that marked the biggest challenge yet to the president by the rebels who swept down from their northern strongholds last year and captured the capital in September. The violence threatened to undermine efforts by the U.S. and its allies to battle al-Qaida’s Yemeni affiliate which Washington has long viewed as the global network’s most dangerous branch.

Fifth, today, under the Sign category of THE TURMOIL IN ISRAEL & THE MIDDLE EAST — According to Voice of America News, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has denounced the move by the International Criminal Court to launch an inquiry into possible war crimes committed against the Palestinians. In a televised speech, he called the move “absurd.” Netanyahu said the “ultimate folly” of the decision was that the democracy of Israel, a world leader in fighting terrorism, was being investigated by the ICC. At the same time, he said, “the terrorist criminals of Hamas” will be pressing the charges. He said he would not be surprised if the Islamic State, al-Qaida and Hezbollah followed suit.

The Bible says in Matthew 24:19-21: “Woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.”

Now, it’s time for Prophecy Bootcamp.

Prophecy Bootcamp is where we deal with the basics of prophecy, the Second Coming of Christ, and what will happen in the future according to the Bible. Our aim here is not to make predictions but to help you get prepared by understanding how things will unfold in the end times.

Our topic for today is titled “The Final Victory” (Part 2) from Dr. Ed Hindson’s book “Revelation: Unlocking the Future”.

The Savior’s description introduces one of the most powerful symbols in the Apocalypse: the sword of his mouth. He is the One who spoke the world into existence. He is also the One who spoke and calmed storms, stilled the waves, and spoke peace to men’s hearts. No wonder John loved to call Him “the Word of God.” The sword of His mouth symbolizes the power of the spoken word, which cuts both ways: it creates and destroys. Ultimately, it is His word that will defeat the forces of Antichrist and slay his armies.

John, the beloved disciple, collapses at the Savior’s feet. He cannot stand in his own strength before his divine King. Remember, this is one of Jesus’ dearest and closest disciples. If he cannot stand before Him, how dare we think we can! Throughout the Revelation, it is clear that approaching God is no trivial matter. We can come into His presence only by the permission of the blood of Christ.

John lay prostrate on the ground before the King of kings, the High Priest of heaven. But then came that familiar, tender touch: Revelation 1:17 says, “He laid his right hand upon me.” The nail-scarred hand of the Savior touched His beloved servant. It had been more than 60 years since he had watched in the upper room when Jesus said to doubting Thomas, “Reach hither your finger, and see My hands…and be not faithless, but believing.” And Thomas answered, “My Lord and my God”!

That same nail print will be there for all eternity, reminding us of the Savior’s love. And it was that loving voice that said, “Do not be afraid.” John had heard those words before — the night Jesus had calmed the storm. “Take courage,” Jesus had said that night, “it is I; do not be afraid.”

Lord willing, we will continue looking at this topic on our next broadcast/podcast.

In closing, let’s consider what God wants you and me to do in light of His Second Coming.

Jesus Christ said in Luke 19:13 to “Occupy till I come.” In light of that, we are continuing our Bible study series on the books of First & Second Thessalonians which Paul wrote to believers who had concerns about the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, and what they should do as they waited. This section is titled “Living Like a Christian (Part 2)” from the book “Waiting on the Second Coming” by Ray C. Stedman.

When Paul wrote, “know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you”, he intended that these words should govern the behavior of believers in the congregation of Thessalonica.

Unfortunately, the phrase “[those] who are over you in the Lord” seems to reflect a relationship that other Scriptures speak against. For example, Jesus said to His disciples, “You have only one Master and you are all brothers.” Christians are to be brothers and sisters in Christ, not “over” one another. Paul’s injunction to the Thessalonians, however, has to do with a different relationship. When the apostle says, “respect those who work hard among you and stand before you (literal Greek) in the Lord,” he was referring to those who stood in front and led the believers when they gathered together. There is no suggestion of anyone being “over” others. What Paul was saying, therefore, was: Follow your leaders.

He gave three guidelines that will help church members learn to follow their leaders:

The first one is: Respect them. The more accurate translation would be “know them.” Recognize them. Be aware of them. Do not take them for granted. I know of churches where pastors are treated as hired servants; they are there to respond to the whims of the board of the church or the vote of the congregation. They are accorded little or no respect and at times are severely mistreated. That kind of treatment is shameful. Here the apostle is saying, “Get to know your leaders. Understand that they are people and do not ignore them.”

If the Lord tarries His coming and we live, we will continue looking at this topic in our next broadcast/podcast.

Remember the words of the Lord in Matthew 24:42: “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.” Matthew 24:44 says, “Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”

If you are not ready for the return of Jesus Christ, may I encourage you to get ready today by receiving Him as your Savior. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will. Romans 10:13 says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Keep looking up for your redemption draweth nigh. Let us join in the prayer of John the Revelator — “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” God bless you.
