ESSENCE Lists 16 Gospel Artists to Watch In 2015

Who doesn’t love the start of a New Year? Not only are there new beginnings and new opportunities, but it also means new music, new artists and for some, it’s their moment to shine on their own or return after an extended break. Our list for 2015 Gospel artists to watch is just that…a little bit of the familiar mixed in with the new!

Affectionately known as the “red Mary,” this year Tina is exploring her individuality. We can look forward to new solo material, a new book, “I Need A Day To Pray,” and an awe inspiring one woman play examining Campbell’s brokenness to complete wholeness!

One of Motown Gospel’s newest signees and perhaps their hidden wildcard, Janice has it all. With poise, beauty, a humble spirit, and not to forget a captivating voice, it’s a recipe for success! And it doesn’t hurt having Grammy winning producer, LaShawn Daniels, at the helm of her first release.

“Let Go” was one of the biggest Gospel songs of 06 and then DeWayne virtually disappeared. Now after a brief hiatus, he is back with a new album just a few weeks away from dropping featuring guest artists like Avery Sunshine, Anthony Hamilton, Stokley Williams and Dave Hollister. With this lineup…how could this be anything but great!

Gospel fans took notice of L. Spenser in 2008 when his song “Surgery” became a massive underground hit. Now with his new album “Unstoppable” undoubtedly being his best project to date, it’s time to see what all the hype is about!

Known to many in the Washington, D.C. area, Gerald Scott is gearing up for the next level, which ironically is the title of his forthcoming release. His infectious sleeper hit “The God We Serve” gives you a little taste of why 2015 should be a great year for G. Scott & Company!

He has collaborated with one of the top producers in music today, Harmony Samuels, on his single “Your Destiny” that has become a powerful declaration for not only LeVar, but for everyone who hears it.
