Walter Johnson, 60, of Jacksonville, Fla., has been charged with impregnating a 12-year-old girl.
A 60-year-old Florida man accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl told police he planned to commit suicide when he found out she was pregnant.
Walter Johnson allegedly had sex with the girl multiple times in the first week of October and when a New Year’s Eve test confirmed she was carrying a baby, according to an arrest report by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
The Jacksonville man was with the girl at the medical facility, but when he heard the positive test he left, police said.
He then called 911 moments later and threatened to commit suicide. He was then arrested, police said.
The suspect denied having sex with the victim, and told police he was diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder and was not talking his medication.
He has been charged with three counts of sexual battery of a victim between ages 12 and 18. He is being held at the Duval County Pre-Trial Detention Facility on $1.5 million bail, according to the facility.
