Maybe it was a bye-week hangover. Maybe it was simply poor execution.
Whatever the reason for the first-half funk that befell the New England Patriots, they simply made more plays when it counted.
And now, after Saturday night’s 35-31 victory against the Baltimore Ravens, the Patriots are still alive in their quest for the fourth Super Bowl of the Bill Belichick-Tom Brady era in New England.
And with the victory, the Patriots have eliminated, arguably the toughest test standing in the way of another championship.
Yes, the Broncos have a more talented roster top to bottom. Yes, the Colts have one of the most dynamic players in quarterback Andrew Luck.
But the Ravens had been New England’s biggest postseason nemesis in recent history, other than the New York Giants.
Things have fallen into place for the Patriots.
