Welcome to The Prophet Daniel’s Report. This is report #506. My name is Daniel Whyte III here to remind you that Jesus Christ is coming back soon and that you need to be prepared. This broadcast is not about predictions, nor is it about setting dates as some foolishly have done, however it is all about preparation.

First, today, let’s look at some Signs of His Coming in the news.

The disciples asked Jesus in Matthew 24:3, “What shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” Jesus Christ then went on to give them (and us) clear signs that show us when we can begin to expect to see the coming of the Lord and the end of the world. Those signs include:

1. the appearance of false Christs and false prophets
2. wars and rumors of wars
3. famines
4. pestilences (fatal epidemic diseases)
5. earthquakes in divers (various) places
6. increased persecution of believers
7. the Gospel being preached in all the world
8. signs and great wonders in the heavens (involving the sun, moon, stars, and planetary movements)
9. distress and perplexity among people
10. increased violence “as in the days of Noah”
11. increased homosexuality and sexual immorality “as it was in the days of Lot”
12. the rise of “Gog and Magog” (which many Bible scholars believe refers to Russia)
13. the rise of the “kings of the east” (which many Bible scholars believe refers to China)
14. increase in knowledge (science and technology)
15. apostasy in the church
16. interest in a unified world government to bring about global peace
17. interest in the rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem

The Bible also speaks of other signs which will be evident in “perilous times” in Second Timothy 3. Those signs are people being:

18. selfish
19. covetous
20. boasters
21. proud
22. blasphemers
23. disobedient to parents
24. unthankful
25. unholy
26. without natural affection
27. trucebreakers
28. false accusers
29. incontinent
30. fierce
31. despisers of those that are good
32. traitors
33. heady
34. high-minded
35. lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God
36. having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof.

Other signs of the times which have been gleaned from Scripture include:
37. scoffers who mock of Christ’s return
38. movement toward a one-world religion
39. outpouring of the Holy Spirit
40. outbreak of demonic and occultic activity
41. re-establishment of Israel
42. Arab hostility toward Israel
43. re-unification of Europe
44. movement toward a one-world economy

Looking at world events through the lens of the Word of God, let’s look at some headlines from today’s news that point to the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

First, today, under the Sign category of THE TURMOIL IN ISRAEL & THE MIDDLE EAST — According to Reuters, Israeli officials said on Saturday that Israel will withhold critical tax revenue and seek ways to bring war crimes prosecutions against Palestinian leaders in retaliation for Palestinian moves to join the International Criminal Court (ICC). On Friday, the Palestinians delivered documents to U.N. headquarters in New York on joining the Rome Statute of the ICC in The Hague and other global treaties with the aim of prosecuting Israelis for what they consider war crimes committed on their territory. In a first punitive response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decided in consultation with senior ministers to withhold the next monthly transfer of tax revenue, totaling some 500 million shekels ($125 million). In addition to the revenue freeze, an Israeli official said Israel was “weighing the possibilities for large-scale prosecution in the United States and elsewhere” of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and other senior Palestinian officials.

Second, today, under the Sign category of WARS & RUMORS OF WARS — According to UPI, The president of Afghanistan said in a television interview that the U.S. should “re-examine” its troop withdrawal deadline from the country. President Ashraf Ghani said, “Deadlines should not be dogmas. If both parties, or, in this case, multiple partners, have done their best to achieve the objectives and progress is very real, then there should be willingness to re-examine a deadline.” The statement comes a week after NATO announced a formal end to its combat operations in Afghanistan after 13 years of war. The Taliban also declared victory after NATO’s announcement, saying, “We consider this step a clear indication of their defeat and disappointment.”

Third, today, under the Sign category of DISTRESS AMONG NATIONS — According to the Telegraph, German chancellor, Angela Merkel, reportedly believes that the eurozone is now robust enough to cope with a potential exit of Greece. The German leader and the finance minister think the single currency bloc has carried out enough reforms since Europe’s sovereign debt crisis to withstand a Greek departure from the euro. Investors have become increasingly concerned that the looming general election in Greece will reignite the eurozone crisis. A snap vote will be held on January 25, after politicians failed to back the Prime Minister’s candidate for the Greek presidency.

Fourth, today, under the Sign category of THE TURMOIL IN ISRAEL & THE MIDDLE EAST — According to the Jerusalem Post, a senior Iranian security official said on Saturday that Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards Corps thwarted a Mossad assassination attempt against one of its nuclear scientists. The official told Fars News Agency, “The Zionist enemy was trying hard to assassinate an Iranian nuclear scientist, but the timely presence of the IRGC security forces thwarted the terrorist operation.” According to a report by CBS News last year, the Obama administration pressured Israel to stop carrying out assassinations inside Iran against the country’s nuclear scientists. Israel has never admitted to carrying out such killings. At least five scientists have been killed, mostly by car bombs.

Fifth, today, under the Sign category of WARS & RUMORS OF WARS — According to UPI, Boko Haram fighters put multinational forces into retreat from a military base in northeastern Nigeria on Saturday, allowing the group to seize the base and sending residents of a nearby town fleeing. The base was located in the town of Baga in Borno state, northeastern Nigeria, and was home to several villagers and soldiers with the Multi-National Joint Task Force, including troops from Nigeria, Chad and Niger.

The Bible says in Luke 17:23-24: “And they shall say to you, See here; or, see there: go not after them, nor follow them. For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day.”

Now, it’s time for Prophecy Bootcamp.

Prophecy Bootcamp is where we deal with the basics of prophecy, the Second Coming of Christ, and what will happen in the future according to the Bible. Our aim here is not to make predictions but to help you get prepared by understanding how things will unfold in the end times.

Our topic for today is titled “What in the World is Happening? (Part 2)” from Dr. Ed Hindson’s book “Revelation: Unlocking the Future”.

Tradition claims that John had come to Ephesus in AD 66. That meant he had been there for nearly thirty years. Scholars have often thought that he was the youngest of Jesus’ disciples. By AD 95, he was an old man — probably in his nineties. Sixty-five years had passed since the crucifixion and resurrection of the Savior. John had been faithful all those years. But now he faced the greatest trial of his life. He was being abandoned on an unpopulated and deserted island. A political prisoner, he was left to die alone in exile.

Here we find the disciple whom Jesus so dearly loved. John had been with the Savior from the beginning. He had left the family fishing business to follow the carpenter from Nazareth. He was in the “inner circle” with Peter and James. At the Last Supper, he was seated next to Jesus and leaned over on his shoulder to talk to Him. He was the only disciple to show up at the cross. It was there that Jesus entrusted the care of His mother, Mary, to His beloved disciple.

But now, John was alone, abandoned on an isolated island. He was facing death and wondering about the future. What would happen to those fragile churches on the mainland? How long would the persecution last? What about the Savior’s promise to return? All these questions probably filled his mind.

Lord willing, we will continue looking at this topic on our next broadcast/podcast.

In closing, let’s consider what God wants you and me to do in light of His Second Coming.

Jesus Christ said in Luke 19:13 to “Occupy till I come.” In light of that, we are continuing our Bible study series on the books of First & Second Thessalonians which Paul wrote to believers who had concerns about the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, and what they should do as they waited. This section is titled “The Fate of the Earth (Part 5)” from the book “Waiting on the Second Coming” by Ray C. Stedman.

In Luke 17:28-29, Jesus says, “It was the same in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building [normal, everyday activities]. But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all. It will be just like this on the day the Son of man is revealed.”

Notice how clearly our Lord indicates that there will first be a quiet disappearance of the family of God. Like a thief at work, silently and stealthily, the treasure will be taken away. Then the judgment will come.

In Matthew 24, the famous Olivet discourse, Jesus mentions that of two men working in the field, one will be taken and the other left. Of two women grinding at the mill, one is taken and one is left.

A parallel passage in Luke says that two men will be asleep in one bed, and one will be taken and the other left. The examples occur during both day (working in the fields) and night (sleeping in bed). This indicates that this selective removal will happen simultaneously all over the earth. When it is day in one country and night in another, some will be taken and others left.

Jesus then adds a clear and unmistakable warning to be watchful and ready, “because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.” So Scripture teaches that the Day of the Lord will begin with the removal of God’s people.

If the Lord tarries His coming and we live, we will continue looking at this topic in our next broadcast/podcast.

Remember the words of the Lord in Matthew 24:42: “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.” Matthew 24:44 says, “Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”

If you are not ready for the return of Jesus Christ, may I encourage you to get ready today by receiving Him as your Savior. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will. Romans 10:13 says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Keep looking up for your redemption draweth nigh. Let us join in the prayer of John the Revelator — “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” God bless you.
