Actress Lindsay Lohan says she contracted a mosquito-borne virus while vacationing over the holidays.
“Before I got chikungunya,” she tweeted Saturday, linking the tweet to an Instagram photo of herself on a motorized personal watercraft in what media outlets have identified as French Polynesia. “Use . . . [bug] spray please,” she added in her tweet. “God bless.”
In a tweet the following day, the 28-year-old Lohan wrote, “Being sick is no fun. But happy new year everyone. Be safe. Love all. Make a difference and keep your . . . , ” followed by a link to an Instagram image that has since been taken down. Minutes later, in an Instagram photo of herself and two friends, she added, “In good faith with good people. I refuse to let a virus effect [sic] my peaceful vacation. Be safe and happy on the new year all.”
“It was a little scary,” Lohan’s mother, Dina, of Merrick, told Newsday. “But she’s OK. She’s just texted me — she’s in L.A. flying home to New York. She was sick for a couple days really bad but now she’s doing really well. It was definitely a scare.”
