A New York lawsuit says the highest-ranking Hispanic woman in a management position at Major League Baseball headquarters has faced discrimination over two decades.

The lawsuit was filed in Manhattan federal court Thursday by Sylvia Lind. It seeks unspecified damages.

Lind names as defendants the league, Commissioner Bud Selig (SEE’-lig) and Hall of Famer Frank Robinson, who supervised her. Messages to the league haven’t been returned.

The lawsuit says Lind is a 48-year-old woman in an industry dominated by white men. It says she has been passed over for promotions and underpaid since 1995.

Lind says Hispanics are underrepresented in the management level when baseball has a high percentage of Hispanic players. She says of 52 people who are vice presidents or above only two are Hispanic and only 12 are women.
