Mika Brzezinski’s recent ‘Furry’ run off is topping headlines today because the MSNBC host completely lost control of herself and made a quick exit after reading an unusual headline, 9News said in a Dec. 9 report. The incident happened when Mika Brzeninski and Joe Scarborough were reporting on the numerous people who had to be taken to the hospital after chlorine gas sickened several people and forced the evacuation of thousands of guests who were attending a Furry convention in Illinois on Sunday.
As reported by Syracuse.com, Mika Brzezinski was reading the teleprompter feed when she came across the word “Furry.” Brzezinski hesitated while attempting to pronounce the unfamiliar term and eventually asked…”Did I get that wrong?” Equally as confused, co-host Joe Scarborough chimes in and asks, “What’s a furry?” To those unfamiliar to what Furry is, Wikipedia defines Furry fandom as a subculture interested in fictional anthropomorphic animal characters with human personalities and characteristics.
Although Brzezinski kept trying to read the story, she laughed throughout and kept pausing. The Huffington Post wrote that Willie Geist ultimately had to take over as Brzezinski and Scarborough broke out into laughter — realizing what exactly the convention had been for — and the segment ended with Brzezinski running off set.
Although Mika Brzezinski’s ‘Furry’ run off was quite hilarious, the incident she was reporting on was no laughing matter. Reportedly, the chlorine gas leak forced the evacuation of thousands of attendees at the convention and 19 people were sent to hospital for nausea and dizziness. ABC News reported that the source of the gas was apparently chlorine powder left in a ninth-floor stairwell at the hotel, according to the Rosemont Public Safety Department. Investigators believe the gas was created intentionally and are treating it as a criminal matter.
