Barack and Michelle Obama’s First Date to be Adapted Into Big Screen Movie, “Southside With You”

Barack and Michelle Obama’s love story is set to hit the big screen.

“Southside With You,” a film that will depict the first date between the future President and First Lady, is in the works, Deadline reports.

Tika Sumpter, best known for her role in the James Brown biopic “Get on Up,” has been cast as Michelle, while producers are currently casting for Barack.

Set in the summer of 1989, the film will chronicle Michelle (née Robinson) and Barack’s first date. The two met at a Chicago law firm, where Michelle worked as a lawyer and Barack, a first-year Harvard law student, joined as a summer associate.

Their fateful outing included lunch at the Art Institute of Chicago and a screening of Spike Lee’s movie “Do the Right Thing.” Three years after their first date, the couple married in 1992.
