National Black Church Initiative Calls for Massive Non-Violent Protest after the Michael Brown Decision Has Been Released

The Country Must Hear From the Black Community

The National Black Church Initiative (NBCI) a coalition of 34,000 African American churches constituting 15.7 million members calls for sit-ins, preach-ins, pray-ins and other non-violent protest to dramatize the issue of judicial fairness in 2014 toward our Black children. We cannot and will not take this decision sitting down.

The exercise to protest and petitioning the government is a fundamental bedrock principle of American democracy. America must know that they cannot and will not arbitrarily kill our children and there will be no response. NBCI Pastors should be the beacon of non-violence, but should petition each law enforcement structure that we will not participate in civil society, nor cooperate unless our rights as citizens are protected against racist and murderous cops like Darren Wilson.

Rev. Anthony Evans, President of the National Black Church Initiative says, “Like the Trayvon Martin decision, it can move us forward as a nation or push us into chaos. The Grand Jury needs to understand that they are not just deciding the fate of one man, but also the fate of a nation. In the words of Martin Luther King, Jr., ‘Where do we go from here, chaos of community?’”

National Black Church Initiative President Reverend Anthony Evans is available immediately for interviews on the Ferguson, MO decision.
