Cardinals Sail Past Lions to Hold on to NFC West’s Best Record

For a quarter, it looked as if the Arizona Cardinals’ game against the Detroit Lions might not be settled in the fourth quarter after all.

The Cardinals scored touchdowns on their first two possessions, and the defense was stifling the Lions.

BOX SCORE: Cardinals 14, Lions 6

But then someone apparently found the script this game was supposed to follow. The Cardinals didn’t score again, and the Lions did just enough — two field goals — to stay close.

The Cardinals survived some scary moments in the fourth quarter to win 14-6 and maintain the best record in the NFL.

The Lions had won their last three games after trailing in the fourth quarter, but they couldn’t do it a fourth time.

The Cardinals (9-1) stretched their lead in the NFC West to three games, thanks to the victory and a loss by the Seattle Seahawks to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Cardinals play at Seattle on Sunday.
