Even as a child, Tymeka Coney knew that God had blessed her with many creative gifts. She excelled in public speaking, writing and acting and often performed at church events and appeared in holiday-themed plays.
But it wasn’t until she attended Texas Tech University that she decided to become a professional spoken word artist and 15 years later, she still possesses a deep passion for this ministry.
“I believe our talents and gifts are God’s gift to us and what we do with those talents/gifts are our gifts to Him and others. I was raised in the church and I have been a believer all of my life. I believe, as the Word says, that we often receive according to our faith and I am believing God for some exceeding and abundant things,” said Tymeka.
“I know that one day my music will be worldwide and internationally known because I continue to exercise my faith as I continue to work the gifts He has given me through the spoken word.”
Thousands of people witnessed Tymeka’s spoken word and vocal talents when she appeared on the Brenda Marsh-Mitchell Gospel Stage at the 9th Annual Taste of Soul. She has also performed at the Catalina Jazz Club in Hollywood, The World Stage in Leimert Park, The Reef in Long Beach, Holman United Methodist Church’s ‘Jazz for the Soul’ and on KJLH-FM radio programs.
In addition, Tymeka is the author of ‘Words Unspoken Volume I,’ sold on Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com and last year, she released her spoken word CD, ‘Life, Love and the Pursuit of Dreams,’ available on iTunes.com to positive reviews.
