Members of the First AME Church of Los Angeles joined family and friends of Rosie Tilles to celebrate her 104th birthday. The party took place on October 18 at the St. John of God Retirement and Care Center.
Her two friends, Ruby Norman, age 103, and Eleanor Waller, age 102, also attended. All three worked together many decades in FAME’s Women’s Missionary Society.
Guests included the Rev. Dr. Cecil ‘Chip’ Murray, former FAME pastor; the Rev. J. Edgar Boyd, current FAME pastor; and Lee Baca, former L.A. County Sheriff. The program featured a tribute by the Devine Praise Dancers and a greeting letter from President Barack Obama.
