WNBA star Brittney Griner suffered a minor injury from a knife attack in China on Monday, her agent, Lindsay Kagawa Colas told USA TODAY Sports on Tuesday.
Colas said Griner was attacked and cut by a man with a knife while trying to board the team bus after practice on Monday. Griner, who’s playing in her second season professionally in China and first with the Beijing Great Wall, did not need to go to the hospital and the cut did not require stitches.
“This was a seemingly random incident,” Colas said. “There is no indication that this was a targeted attack on Brittney or her teammates.”
Griner posted a video and statement on her Instagram account, and said that she was OK:
