The cops allegedly fixed the broken headlight and helped Gwen Carr avoid a summons for a $150 fine. The New York City Police Department’s Internal Affairs Bureau has launched an investigation after cops allegedly helped fix the car owned by Eric Garner’s mother and helped her avoid a ticket, the New York Post reports.

According to the report, a police source confirmed that officers were being investigated after Gwen Carr, 65, the mother of choke hold victim Eric Garner, received some special treatment during a routine traffic stop about a week ago.

Carr reportedly phoned Staten Island’s borough commander, Assistant Chief Edwards Delatorre, after being stopped, which led Delatorre to make several calls. Ultimately, a police lieutenant and a police sergeant bought a replacement headlight and took it to Carr’s home, where they installed it.

The cops then gave her paperwork to avoid her summons for a $150 fine, since the repair was made in less than a day.
