Florida State University Athletic Director Stan Wilcox says the athletic department’s compliance staff is investigating whether or not Jameis Winston accepted payment for autographs, even though they have no information he was every paid for his signature.

An ESPN report said that more than 900 signed Winston items were authenticated by the same company linked to Georgia running back Todd Gurley’s suspension last week.

Wilcox said that so far nothing about this issue has compromised Winston’s eligibility.

The statement:

“Our Athletics Department compliance staff is reviewing issues raised by the media related to autographed items attributed to Jameis Winston. At this time we have no information indicating that he accepted payment for items reported to bear his signature, thereby compromising his athletics elgibility. The fact that items appear on an Internet sigte bearing the signature of a student-athlete does not singularly determine a violation of NCAA rules.
