Welcome to The Prophet Daniel’s Report. This is report #490. My name is Daniel Whyte III here to remind you that Jesus Christ is coming back soon and that you need to be prepared. This broadcast is not about predictions, nor is it about setting dates as some foolishly have done, however it is all about preparation.

First, today, let’s look at some Signs of His Coming in the news.

The disciples asked Jesus in Matthew 24:3, “What shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” Jesus Christ then went on to give them (and us) clear signs that show us when we can begin to expect to see the coming of the Lord and the end of the world. Those signs include:

1. the appearance of false Christs and false prophets
2. wars and rumors of wars
3. famines
4. pestilences (fatal epidemic diseases)
5. earthquakes in divers (various) places
6. increased persecution of believers
7. the Gospel being preached in all the world
8. signs and great wonders in the heavens (involving the sun, moon, stars, and planetary movements)
9. distress and perplexity among people
10. increased violence “as in the days of Noah”
11. increased homosexuality and sexual immorality “as it was in the days of Lot”
12. the rise of “Gog and Magog” (which many Bible scholars believe refers to Russia)
13. the rise of the “kings of the east” (which many Bible scholars believe refers to China)
14. increase in knowledge (science and technology)
15. apostasy in the church
16. interest in a unified world government to bring about global peace
17. interest in the rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem

The Bible also speaks of other signs which will be evident in “perilous times” in Second Timothy 3. Those signs are people being:

18. selfish
19. covetous
20. boasters
21. proud
22. blasphemers
23. disobedient to parents
24. unthankful
25. unholy
26. without natural affection
27. trucebreakers
28. false accusers
29. incontinent
30. fierce
31. despisers of those that are good
32. traitors
33. heady
34. high-minded
35. lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God
36. having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof.

Other signs of the times which have been gleaned from Scripture include:
37. scoffers who mock of Christ’s return
38. movement toward a one-world religion
39. outpouring of the Holy Spirit
40. outbreak of demonic and occultic activity
41. re-establishment of Israel
42. Arab hostility toward Israel
43. re-unification of Europe
44. movement toward a one-world economy

Looking at world events through the lens of the Word of God, let’s look at some headlines from today’s news that point to the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

First, today, under the Sign category of WARS & RUMORS OF WARS — According to Al-Arabiya News, an Iraqi senior government official said that up to 10,000 Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) fighters are on the outskirts of Baghdad ready to attack the capital. Iraqi officials are continuing to urge the United States to deploy ground troops into the war-stricken country. The president of the provisional council of Anbar Province, said most of his province, adjacent to Baghdad, is now under ISIS control. Should the entirety of the province fall to ISIS, it would facilitate an advancement by the militants into Baghdad where a team of almost 1,500 U.S. troops are mentoring a stressed Iraqi army.

Second, today, under the Sign category of THE TURMOIL IN ISRAEL & THE MIDDLE EAST — According to Israel National News, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister has warned the US that if America and its coalition tries to topple Syrian President Bashar Assad, Israel will be attacked. This is not the first time he has made such a warning against deposing Iran’s ally Assad. Last September he likewise said a US strike on Syria would lead to attacks on Israel by “some groups and movements that have formed over the past two or three years.” The statements are viewed by many as a thinly veiled threat by the Islamic regime, which has repeatedly threatened to annihilate Israel.

Third, today, under the Sign category of DISTRESS AMONG NATIONS — According to the Independent, British ministers of parliament have voted to back a proposal calling on the British government to unilaterally recognise the state of Palestine. Politicians on both sides of the deeply divisive issue believed the motion would be passed. While the vote in favour of Palestinian recognition is only symbolic and does not bind the Government it
nonetheless has profound international implications.

Fourth, today, under the Sign category of INCREASE IN NATURAL DISASTERS — According to the Daily Mail, Indonesian Volcano Mount Sin-a-bung is spewing out rivers of molten lava and giant plumes of ash as it continues to erupt for a fourth successive day. Indonesian authorities said the flow of ash and molten rock has now reached four and half kilometers down the slope and is threatening nearby populated villages. The ash clouds have reached three kilometers in the sky. This latest series of eruptions began on October 5, forcing hundreds of people to leave their homes.

Fifth, today, under the Sign category of WARS & RUMORS OF WAR — According to Voice of America, Turkish officials said they cannot be expected to conduct a ground operation against Islamic State militants in Syria on their own. At a joint news conference with the NATO Secretary General, the country’s Foreign Minister said talks about Turkey’s contributions to fighting the militants are ongoing but ruled out unilateral action. He said any intervention would have to be part of a broader military action to create a buffer zone in Syria and a no-fly zone to protect it. The Turkish government is also currently refusing to open its air bases for airstrikes against the militants. That stance, observers say, is causing concern and frustration in Washington.

The Bible says in Revelation 19:15: “And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.”

Now, it’s time for Prophecy Bootcamp.

Prophecy Bootcamp is where we deal with the basics of prophecy, the Second Coming of Christ, and what will happen in the future according to the Bible. Our aim here is not to make predictions but to help you get prepared by understanding how things will unfold in the end times.

Our topic for today is titled “The Nature of Symbolic Language (Part 1)” from Dr. Ed Hindson’s book “Revelation: Unlocking the Future”.

The events predicted in the Revelation are stated in symbolic language. Many of these symbols are taken from Old Testament passages. These include: tree of life, Lion of Judah, song of Moses, book of life, Lamb of God, throne of God, Wormwood, Sodom, Babylon, Jezebel, Gog and Magog, and Armageddon. Some symbols are drawn from other New Testament passages. These include: Word of God, “first-born of the dead,” eternal gospel, Son of man, marriage supper, the Bride, “first resurrection,” and “second death.” In fact, of the 404 verses that are contained in the Revelation, 278 are drawn from Old Testament passages.

Some of the symbols in the Apocalypse have no biblical parallel and are left unexplained. These include: mark of the beast, image of the beast, beast of the sea, scarlet beast, seven thunders, synagogue of Satan, “hail and fire mixed with blood,” great army of the Euphrates, little book, and great white throne. Other symbols are specifically explained and identified. The Alpha and Omega is Jesus Christ. The seven lampstands are the seven churches. The “new song” is the song of the Lamb. The “great day of their wrath” is the Great Tribulation. the 144,000 are Jews from the tribes of Israel. The dragon is Satan. The scarlet beast is Rome (the city on seven hills). The New Jerusalem is the church (the Lamb’s Bride). Other symbols are self-explanatory: numbers, angels, the open door, golden bowls (or vials), seals, trumpets, songs, horses, fire, death and hell, the holy city, and the glory of God.

Lord willing, we will continue looking at this topic on our next broadcast/podcast.

In closing, let’s consider what God wants you and me to do in light of His Second Coming.

Jesus Christ said in Luke 19:13 to “Occupy till I come.” In light of that, we are continuing our Bible study series on the books of First & Second Thessalonians which Paul wrote to believers who had concerns about the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, and what they should do as they waited. This section is titled “Comfort at the Grave (Part 1)” from the book “Waiting on the Second Coming” by Ray C. Stedman.

We never know what circumstances we will face tomorrow. But today comes before tomorrow, and that is where we must live. We cannot live tomorrow, but we can live today. This is the issue that was troubling the Thessalonian Christians. They were looking toward tomorrow but wondering what to do today. The apostle Paul’s advice to them in his first letter was, as usual, very practical.

When confronted with the question of how to live in the present moment, Paul’s excellent advice was: “But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.”

First, keep on loving! Keep your attitude toward others warm and gracious. Watch how you speak. If you offend someone, correct it.

Paul told the Thessalonians that he did not need to teach them how to love one another. His amazing claim was that God through His Holy Spirit would teach them. In Romans 5:5 he said, “the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” If we welcome that love of the Spirit, we will be able to manifest love toward others. If we choose to be bitter, of course, then love will not be manifested. But if we reject the caustic word, the sharp attitude, then we can show kindness, mercy, and grace. The Holy Spirit gives believers a new capacity to love that the world does not possess.

If the Lord tarries His coming and we live, we will continue looking at this topic in our next broadcast/podcast.

Remember the words of the Lord in Matthew 24:42: “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.” Matthew 24:44 says, “Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”

If you are not ready for the return of Jesus Christ, may I encourage you to get ready today by receiving Him as your Savior. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will. Romans 10:13 says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Keep looking up for your redemption draweth nigh. Let us join in the prayer of John the Revelator — “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” God bless you.
