Today, I would like to begin by sharing with you a poem titled “The Secret Place” by Bryan Miles .
In the secret place I came to You
In my closet, near a dusty shoe
Shutting out the world I closed the door
In the darkness seated on the floor
It was finally quiet enough to hear
Your silent whisper in my ear
I talked to you for quite some time
Long-sleeved shirts would sway and climb
Around my neck, and tousle my hair
But, I kept my mind on You, and prayer
Twisting a hanger on the floor
You talked to me, I know for sure
Resting in the secret place
Your mercy shined upon my face
I saw a child running down a hill
To soak his feet in waters still
A calming breeze brought a white balloon
Its string wrapped ’round my fingers soon
And on that balloon, Your Name in red
“Jesus loves you,” is what it said
Then through the keyhole, shining bright
A most miraculous stream of light
“Found you dad,” two voices said
“Thought you were underneath the bed!”
I opened up my arms this WIDE
Knowing Your hand let them inside
My secret place, where I realized
We all are children in Your eyes
I got up off the closet floor
My heart, still on its knees, I’m sure
Straight from my heart, I talked to You

The simple purpose of this broadcast is to motivate, encourage, and exhort you to Just Pray. This radio broadcast is not necessarily for people who already know the secret and power of prayer and who actually practice genuine prayer on a regular basis, rather it is for those who may find it difficult to pray or for people who claim they do not have time to pray. I am convinced that most Christian people do not need to learn how to pray; they need to Just Pray! If I can get you to just pray, all sorts of wonderful things will begin to happen for you, your family, and whatever God has called you to do. We do not pray based upon our subjective feelings, we pray based upon objective facts in the Word of God.
Our prayer motivator passage from the Word of God today is I Kings 17:19-22 which reads:
19 And he said unto her, Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into a loft, where he abode, and laid him upon his own bed.
20 And he cried unto the Lord, and said, O Lord my God, hast thou also brought evil upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son?
21 And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the Lord, and said, O Lord my God, I pray thee, let this child’s soul come into him again.
22 And the Lord heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.
Allow me to share with you some important points regarding this passage from Matthew Henry’s Commentary:
The prophet’s address to God upon this occasion. He gave no answer to her expostulation, but brought it to God, and laid the case before him, not knowing what to say to it himself. He took the dead child from the mother’s bosom to his own bed. Probably he had taken a particular kindness to the child, and found the affliction his own more than by sympathy. He retired to his chamber, and,
He humbly reasons with God concerning the death of the child. He sees death striking by commission from God: Thou hast brought this evil for is there any evil of this kind in the city, in the family, and the Lord has not done it? He pleads the greatness of the affliction to the poor mother: “It is evil upon the widow; thou art the widow’s God, and dost not usually bring evil upon widows; it is affliction added to the afflicted.” He pleads his own concern: “It is the widow with whom I sojourn; wilt thou, that art my God, bring evil upon one of the best of my benefactors? I shall be reflected upon, and others will be afraid of entertaining me, if I bring death into the house where I come.”
Our prayer motivator quote today is from Erroll Hulse. He said, “Prayer [is] the genesis of revival. The beginning of a time of revival invariably has been marked by quickening of the ordinary prayer meetings, resulting in new vitality, more participation, more sense of the presence of the Holy Spirit, and more unction in intercession.”
My personal encouragement for you today is this: Dedicated prayer with your family will be the most difficult thing you will do in your life, and the devil will fight against you on this like nothing else. But prayer is a fight you must win for the glory of God and for your family. Men, as I Corinthians 16:13 says, “Quit yourself like a man” and lead your family into victorious spiritual warfare!
Our prayer motivator devotional today is titled “PERSISTENCE IN PRAYER” part 4 from the book, “Purpose in Prayer” by E.M. Bounds.
Perseverance counts much with God as well as with man. If Elijah had ceased at his first petition the heavens would have scarcely yielded their rain to his feeble praying. If Jacob had quit praying at decent bedtime he would scarcely have survived the next day’s meeting with Esau. If the Syrophenician woman had allowed her faith to faint by silence, humiliation, repulse, or stop mid-way its struggles, her grief-stricken home would never have been brightened by the healing of her daughter.
Pray and never faint, is the motto Christ gives us for praying. It is the test of our faith, and the severer the trial and the longer the waiting, the more glorious the results.
The benefits and necessity of importunity are taught by Old Testament saints. Praying men must be strong in hope, and faith, and prayer. They must know how to wait and to press, to wait on God and be in earnest in our approaches to Him.
Abraham has left us an example of importunate intercession in his passionate pleading with God on behalf of Sodom and Gomorrah, and if, as already indicated, he had not ceased in his asking, perhaps God would not have ceased in His giving.
“Abraham left off asking before God left off granting.” Moses taught the power of importunity when he interceded for Israel forty days and forty nights, by fasting and prayer. And he succeeded in his importunity.

Now, if you are listening today, and you do not know the Lord Jesus Christ as your Saviour, the first prayer you need to pray is what we call ‘the sinners prayer.’ John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will. Romans 10:13 says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
