Texas Ebola Patient to Receive Experimental Drug Brincidofocir

As Thomas Eric Duncan’s condition reportedly declines, the patient who was the first to be diagnosed on U.S. soil with the deadly Ebola virus will be getting the experimental drug brincidofovir.  Thomas Eric Duncan will begin taking the experimental drug brincidofovir as his condition grows worse in his fight with the deadly Ebola virus, CBS News reports.

The man, who became the first person to be diagnosed on U.S. soil with Ebola, had traveled from Liberia to Dallas to visit family when he began exhibiting symptoms.

According to CBS News, brincidofovir is an oral antiviral drug that is in the process of being tested to fight other, more common viruses. However, there is hope that it might target Ebola.
