Let’s take a quick look at today’s prophecy-related headlines which point towards the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ and the end of the world as we know it.

First, today, under the Sign category of WARS & RUMORS OF WARS — According to the National Journal, after some confusion following a news conference on Wednesday morning by President Obama, U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel made clear the administration’s goal in its actions against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. He said, “It is not contain… it is to degrade and destroy degrade and destroy the capability of ISIL to come after U.S. interests all over the world, and our allies.” He also said the United States is aware of over 100 U.S. citizens who are fighting alongside ISIS forces in the Middle East.

Second, today, under the Sign category of INCREASED PERSECUTION — According to ChristianHeadlines.com, Christians in India are facing threats as Hindu extremists have taken over village councils to pass laws restricting religions other than Hindu. The laws reportedly make Christian prayer, church services, and literature illegal, and non-Hindu missionaries are now banned in 50 towns. Though India’s constitution guarantees citizens freedom of religion, state government authorities have not intervened against the new laws. Authorities maintain that they are monitoring the situation.

Third, today, under the Sign category of DISTRESS AMONG NATIONS — According to the BBC, France has said conditions are “not right” for the delivery of the first of two navy assault warships to Russia. The French president’s office blamed Moscow’s recent actions in Ukraine for its decision to terminate the contract. Russia’s deputy defence minister reacted by saying the French decision would not hinder Moscow’s plans to continue the ‘modernization’ of its armed forces.

Fourth, today, under the Sign category of DISTRESS AMONG NATIONS — According to The Associated Press, the United Arab Emirates called for a coordinated international effort to tackle the “global scourge” of terrorism, raising particular concern about the threat posed by the Islamic State militant group that has seized large swaths of Iraq and Syria. The U.S.-allied Gulf nation has provided backing for some of the Sunni rebel groups fighting to topple President Bashar Assad in Syria, and its companies have made significant investments in Iraq. It has taken a firm stance against Islamist movements such as the Muslim Brotherhood that have sought to benefit from the regional tumult of the Arab Spring.

Fifth, today, under the Sign category of DISTRESS AMONG NATIONS — According to The Washington Free Beacon, Islamist militias in Libya took control of nearly a dozen commercial jetliners last month, and western intelligence agencies recently issued a warning that the jets could be used in terrorist attacks across North Africa. Intelligence reports of the stolen jetliners were distributed within the U.S. government over the past two weeks and included a warning that one or more of the aircraft could be used in an attack later this month on the date marking the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks against New York and Washington.

The Bible says in Luke 21:34-36: “And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and [so] that day come upon you unawares.”

Our second coming quote for today is from J.C. Pollock. He said, “Millions of graves are dug every year, but it is inspiring to think that one generation of Christians will cheat the undertaker.”

If you are not ready for the return of Jesus Christ, may I encourage you to get ready today by receiving Him as your Savior. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will. Romans 10:13 says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Keep looking up for your redemption draweth nigh. Let us join in the prayer of John the Revelator — “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” God bless you.
