A quick look at today’s prophecy-related headlines which point towards the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ and the end of the world as we know it.
First, today, under the Sign category of WARS & RUMORS OF WARS — According to USA Today, after conflicting reports on a possible cease-fire deal for Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday that he and the Ukrainian President have agreed on a plan to settle the conflict and called on Kiev to pull its troops out of disputed areas and for rebels to stop their military operations. The Kremlin leader said he hoped that the Contact Group on Ukraine — currently meeting in Belarus capital, would reach final agreements on the settlement plan at their next meeting on Friday.
Second, today, under the Sign category of THE TURMOIL IN ISRAEL & THE MIDDLE EAST — According to the Jerusalem Post, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave interviews to the country’s three television networks over the weekend defending the Gaza operation, and saying that driving Hamas from power has not been removed from the agenda. He said, “I never removed the goal of toppling Hamas, and I am not doing that now,” however he said Israel faces numerous other security challenges.
Third, today, under the Sign category of WARS & RUMORS OF WARS — According to The Jerusalem Post, United Nations peacekeepers stationed on the Syrian side of the Golan Heights buffer zone began fleeing the embattled country and heading towards Israeli territory. UN troops were abandoning their posts following attacks by militant rebels in the area. It was not clear how many UN forces have left their posts or from what nationality they were.
Fourth, today, under the Sign category of WARS & RUMORS OF WARS — According to The New York Times, With American bombs raining down from the sky, Shiite militia fighters aligned with Iran battled Sunni extremists in Iraq, punching through their defenses to break the weeks-long siege of a cluster of farming villages whose residents faced possible slaughter. The fight in northern Iraq appeared to be the first time American warplanes and militias backed by Iran had worked with a common purpose on a battlefield against militants from the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, even though the Obama administration said there was no direct coordination with the militias. Should such military actions continue, they could signal a dramatic shift for the United States and Iran, which have long vied for control in Iraq.
Fifth, today, under the Sign category of DISTRESS AMONG NATIONS — According to Haaretz, a laptop recovered from a Syrian building used by militants from the Islamic State group known as ISIS contains plans to develop and use biological weapons. Captured by pro-Western rebels in northern Syria, the laptop contains what is described as “a treasure trove of documents that provide ideological justifications for jihadi organizations and practical training on how to carry out the Islamic State’s deadly campaigns.” Of greatest interest, according to ForeignPolicy.com, was a 19-page document in Arabic on how to develop biological weapons and how to weaponize the bubonic plague from infected animals.
The Bible says in Luke 21:10-11: “Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.”
Our second coming quote for today is from Andrew Murray. He said, “There is such a danger of our being so occupied with the things that are to come more than with him who is to come.”
