“Scandal” Receives Emmy Nominations

Joe Morton, better known as the infamous “Papa Pope” on TV’s hit series Scandal, has secured a nomination for this year’s round of Emmy Awards. Thursday’s eagerly awaited reveal of the list of nominees was a huge nod to Game of Thrones, which secured 19 nominations, followed closely by Fargo with 18 and American Horror Story: Coven with 17.

Scandal received only two nominations in addition to Morton’s, with Kerry Washington vying for best actress in a drama series and Kate Burton contending for best guest actress.

Orange Is the New Black secured six nominations, with transgender icon Laverne Cox and co-stars Uzo Aduba and Natasha Lyonne among those on the list for best guest actress in a comedy. The hit show, which is in its second season, is also up for best comedy series, alongside CBS’ The Big Bang Theory, Modern Family and Louie.

Other nominations worth noting include Don Cheadle in the category of best actor in a drama forHouse of Lies, and Chiwetel Ejiofor in Dancing on the Edge and Idris Elba in Luther, both competing for best actor in a miniseries or movie.
