Joe Morton, better known as the infamous “Papa Pope” on TV’s hit series Scandal, has secured a nomination for this year’s round of Emmy Awards. Thursday’s eagerly awaited reveal of the list of nominees was a huge nod to Game of Thrones, which secured 19 nominations, followed closely by Fargo with 18 and American Horror Story: Coven with 17.
Scandal received only two nominations in addition to Morton’s, with Kerry Washington vying for best actress in a drama series and Kate Burton contending for best guest actress.
Orange Is the New Black secured six nominations, with transgender icon Laverne Cox and co-stars Uzo Aduba and Natasha Lyonne among those on the list for best guest actress in a comedy. The hit show, which is in its second season, is also up for best comedy series, alongside CBS’ The Big Bang Theory, Modern Family and Louie.
