Despite a lingering tax issue, a church in Arizona that helps the homeless remains on track to keep helping because generous people have stepped in to help.

The Church of the Isaiah 58 Project in La Paz County faces a tax levied by the county tax officer in a fashion that has been questioned by Alliance Defending Freedom.

At first the tax was $50,000 but has since been raised to $68,000 even though the state attorney general’s office has told the county it should back off.

ADF attorney Erik Stanley tells OneNewsNow the church faced the possibility of foreclosure.

“And it would be a real shame for an unlawful decision by the government to institute an unlawful tax on this church to, in some way, remove this from the community,” he says.
