Nine people were shot near a street junction in downtown Miami early on Tuesday, police said.
A local CBS affiliate reported one of the victims had died and another person was in critical condition after being shot in the Florida city’s Liberty City neighborhood.
“(Two) people dead after group of 7 to 10 people were shot,” local television station WSVN-TV wrote on Twitter citing the Miami Police Department.
A Miami Police Department dispatcher told Reuters nine people had been shot, but declined to provide further details.
The Miami Herald newspaper said 10 people were hit in gunfire at the intersection of northwest 12th Avenue and 65th Street.
Miami Police Department Sgt. Kea Simmons described the situation as “very active” and said few other details are known at this time.
