Eja Cree, 31, was arrested Friday in connection with variations of ‘memeneusha’ written on churches in the Birmingham area with spray paint. He told investigators that the word means ‘Jesus is coming,’ the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said.
A 31-year-old man was arrested Friday in connection with the spray painting of an unusual word on churches and businesses in the Birmingham metro area, authorities said.
Eja Cree, of Center Point, Ala., faces a first-degree criminal mischief charge for vandalism, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
“Memeneusha,” or variations of it, started popping up on the walls, doors and sidewalks in Pleasant Grove, Hueytown and eastern Jefferson County on Thursday night into Friday morning, AL.com reported.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Cree was taken in for questioning Friday night and told investigators that the word means “Jesus is coming.” He also said that the Holy Spirit asked him to “get the word out.”
