The ex-wife of NBA basketball star Dwyane Wade filed a federal lawsuit this week against her former’s husband’s attorney and the Dolton police alleging they filed false charges against and assaulted her.
Siohvaughn Funches-Wade, of South Holland, who in 2011 lost custody of her and Wade’s two boys, says in the lawsuit filed Monday that Wade’s attorney James Pritikin and Dolton police were among the conspirators who “worked together in a common plan to cause false charges to be initiated against” Funches-Wade.
Funches-Wade, of South Holland, was arrested June 16, 2012, and charged with two counts each of child abduction and unlawful visitation interference and one count of resisting arrest. She was arrested at her home, and in addition to being falsely charged, was “violently attacked” during the arrest, suffering a torn rotator cuff, asthma attack and panic attack, according to the lawsuit.
All counts but resisting-arrest charged were dismissed, according to Cook County court records.
