Demonstrations continue today in Washington D.C. for the release of Meriam Ibrahim, the Sudanese Christian wife and mother who is facing death for apostasy.

International Christian Concern is gathering with other organizations outside the Sudanese embassy.

The groups have been demonstrating outside the White House since Thursday morning. Ibrahim’s husband is American, as well as the couple’s two children, which are with her in a Sudanese prison.

“Out in front of the Sudanese embassy on Massachusetts Avenue, a group of organizations is protesting the detention of Meriam Ibrahim and her sentencing to death by hanging for apostasy, or leaving the Muslim faith,” ICC spokesman Isaac Six tells OneNewsNow.

Ibrahim’s husband and defense team has told International Christian Concern that she’s never been a Muslim. But, regardless, ICC thinks it is a human rights violation for a nation to criminalize leaving a faith practice.
