SBC Pastors Conference: God Used Rick Warren to Help Comfort the People Through Prayer, God Used James MacDonald to Bring Down the House, and God Used Francis Chan to Personally Take the Southern Baptists to the Woodshed for a Whipping; he Basically Called Them Dead to Their Faces, but They Responded Well

You can raise all of the negative things that you want to about the Southern Baptist Convention, but God is moving among the people in the SBC because of the focus on prayer that has been led by Fred Luter and Frank Page.

Rick Warren, James MacDonald, and Francis Chan delivered much needed messages in the closing session of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Pastors Conference in Baltimore, Maryland. Each of their sermons, built on the conference theme of “Show us Your Glory.”

Pastor Rick Warren’s message focused on how pastors could use pain in their lives to bring glory to God and to benefit their ministry. He drew heavily on his own experience grieving after the suicide of his son last year.

Pastor MacDonald challenged the conference attendees to seek God’s face and His presence in their churches and ministries. Using Moses as an example, he showed how knowing God personally is the key to being a successful Christian leader.

Pastor Francis Chan spoke out against ritualism and practice in church ministry. He asked the congregation to consider if much of what was being done in the church was merely religion and not really driven by the Holy Spirit.

The messages sparked much enthusiasm among pastors and church leaders from across America and around the world on social media. Some of those reactions can be seen below.
