Late Singer Luther Vandross to Be Honored Posthumously With Hollywood Walk of Fame Star

Late soul and R&B crooner Luther Vandross will be honored posthumously with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Tuesday ( June 3).

The star will be unveiled at 1717 Vine Street overlooking the recording industry stated Leron Gubler, President of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and emcee of the ceremonies.

“We are honored to hold this dedication for a very special performer whose music will resonate for all time,” Grubler said.

Leron Gubler and guest speakers to be announced will be on hand to unveil the star for Vandross in the category of Recording at 1717 Vine Street.

Accepting the star on behalf of the family will be Luther’s niece Seveda Williams and longtime friend Alfonso B Thornton.

Vandross dominated the soul and R&B charts for 25 years – from his 1981 debut until his untimely passing in 2005 after complications from a stroke.

Over the course of his career he would win eight Grammy Awards (31 nominations) and scored 11 consecutive platinum/double platinum albums.

The star ceremony will be streamed live exclusively on http://www.walkoffame.com.
