Iran may be pulling a trick to see if anyone remains concerned about an American-Iranian pastor imprisoned in that country.
Saeed Abedini was sentenced to eight years in prison after returning home to visit family members in Iran. He has been repeatedly tortured, developed internal bleeding, and only after intense international attention, taken to a private hospital for surgery, which was successful.
Jordan Sekulow, of the American Center for Law and Justice, says Abedini was “forcefully removed” from the hospital and passed out, unconscious, on the floor as his family and hospital staff watched.
He has since been returned to prison.
Sekulow says the Iranian government was low key for the last couple of months, not drawing attention to Abedini while he was receiving the badly needed surgery and recovering.
