Firefighters from multiple departments are responding to a “fully involved” structure on Mill Pond Road in Brentwood, N.H., according to a fire chief from a neighboring town.
State police told numerous media outlets that a shooting had occurred and that it involved a police officer.
Debra Vasapolli, director of public relations at Exeter Hospital, confirmed that one person was taken to the hospital but said that person was not the victim of a gunshot wound. She declined to provide more details.
Epping Fire Chief Don DeAngelis said he sent firefighters from his department to the scene. The incident was reported just after 4 p.m.
Video coverage showed flames burning through the roof of the house and an explosion that punched out the front of the house shortly after 5:30. Firefighters were kept away from the scene and within minutes of the explosion the house was engulfed in flames. Firefighters finally started attacking the blaze around 6 p.m.
No further information was immediately available.
