Dr. Condoleezza Rice will be honored with the 2014 Pioneer Award presented by the Kentucky Center for African American Heritage.
The Pioneer Award recognizes the accomplishments of African-American men and women from all walks of life.
Rice will be the first national honoree.
WLKY is the media sponsor for the event and Monica Hardin will serve as the event’s emcee.
Previous recipients of the award include sculptor Ed Hamilton, Sen. Georgia Davis Powers, the Rev. Louis Coleman, Judge William McAnulty and journalist Chuck Olmstead (posthumously).
