A conservative leader believes there needs to be “resolute leadership” to bring the various factions of the Republican Party together to win in this fall’s midterm elections.
Allen West, a former congressman and retired Army lieutenant colonel, agrees with conservative pundits who believe the Republican Party is way too divided as it prepares for a tough battle against the Democrats in the 2014 midterms.
“We need resolute leadership on our side to bring all the different factions together — bringing the Libertarians, bringing the conservatives, bringing the more moderate Republicans, mainstream Republicans, the establishment — because we have to unify,” he insists.
For the time being, West is putting all of his own political plans on hold.
“I tell people that you write your plans in pencil and give God the eraser,” says the author of Guardian of the Republic: An American Ronin’s Journey to Faith, Family and Freedom. “And so I will be back in the arena of politics, but right now the most important thing to me is I have an incredible platform that I can get across the country, and then after the 2014 midterm elections, we’ll see what’s in store for me personally going back into the political arena.”
But right now West’s main focus is helping the conservative movement, the conservative cause, and the country.
