Henrico firefighters are investigating a two-alarm fire at Trinity Lutheran Church.
According to witnesses, the fire broke out in the main sanctuary around 5:15 p.m. Sunday.
The church, located in the 2300 block of North Parham Road, was not holding a service at the time.
Henrico firefighters were able to get the blaze under control within an hour.
Henrico fire investigators said there was significant smoke and fire damage to the sanctuary. No one was injured.
Just hours earlier, the congregation listened to an Easter Sunday service message of hope. It’s a message that has quickly become very close to home.
“We talked about a message of hope and this is a real-life practical application of that message; about Jesus who changes our circumstances. Unfortunately, we’re learning that lesson pretty quickly after that message this morning,” said Senior Pastor, Michael Pottschmidt.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
