It is known that the Clippers’ Blake Griffin has quite a honed sense of humor — in this Rolling Stones interview he lists his favorite rapper as Marky Mark, for instance. He also talks about Chris Kaman’s “Manscaping”.
But suddenly things got a bit awkward when religion was discussed, and he was asked if he believed in creationism. It seems that he does.
You were home-schooled until the seventh grade. Are you Team Creationism or Team Evolution?
I was raised in a Christian household and went to a Christian high school, so I believe in creationisim, for sure.
So you think the Earth is only 6,000 years old?
I don’t want to do the math, but somewhere around there.
It’s not often that you meet a pro athlete who thinks that the Russell Crowe movie “Noah” is a documentary. But could Griffin have been kidding here? Well, he was home schooled, did attend Christian high school and is devoutly religious. On an injury before his rookie season:
“It was frustrating, but at the same time, I know everything happens for a reason,” Blake says. “I don’t know what the reason is, but only God knows. I just have to wait and let his plan unveil.”
