ATLANTA, GA, (April 11, 2014) – He PromisD Nvr 2 LeaV Me, the debut novel of award-winning journalist Mark Lowery, details two parallel struggles. The first is the difficult situation in which the main character finds himself. The second deals with his internal struggle to reconcile his past and present. Will he learn from the past and move forward? Or will it trap him?
He PromisD Nvr 2 LeaV Me is the story of writer Taran Johnson. His lavish, New York City lifestyle is abruptly interrupted one day after he receives a faded card in the mail. A promissory note of sorts, the card is from an old girlfriend, and calls in a pledge made years earlier. His decision to honor the pledge takes him back to a town he’d tried to forget, reintroduces him to a people and a culture he no longer recognizes. Along the way, he gets a dangerous look at drug addiction as his life and marriage are threatened. Can his mere will to survive and his budding faith save him?
Born in the Bronx, New York, Mark Lowery is an award-winning journalist who has reported and edited for national magazines and major newspapers, including Newsday, the Detroit Free Press, and The Plain Dealer. He lives near Cleveland, Ohio.
