The Louisiana lawmaker who got caught on a surveillance video locking lips with his younger district aide just lost one vote: the aide’s husband, who says he’s leaving his wife over the incident.

Rep. Vance McAllister (R-La.) apologized Monday after being caught on video making out with Melissa Hixon Peacock, 33, outside his district office for about 30 seconds.

On Tuesday, husband Heath Peacock – a family friend who last year gave McAllister’s campaign $5,200 – denounced the 40-year-old congressman as a fraud.

“He’s had a hand in not only turning my life upside down, but also my son’s,” Peacock told Inside Edition. “He’s not who people think he is. If people really knew him, he wouldn’t be elected. This religious family man – this is completely false. He’s not like that. He’s the most non-religious man I know.”

McAllister stressed his religious values in his campaign, even cutting a campaign ad over a pre-church breakfast with his five kids.

The distressed hubby blamed McAllister for ruining his marriage.

“He can apologize all he wants, until he’s blue in the face. It doesn’t change a thing,” Peacock said.

In a Monday statement, McAllister said he was “very sorry,” adding: “I’m asking for forgiveness from God, my wife, my kids, my staff, and my constituents who elected me to serve.” He has said he’ll seek reelection.

Things have been going downhill fast for McAllister, who just came to Congress last November after a special election.
