Police say an argument between a 15-year-old boy and his 17-year-old brother escalated to a stabbing Sunday evening in a parking lot of a Longmont church both boys attend.
Police say the 15-year-old stabbed the older brother twice with a pocket knife, once in the arm and once in the back.
The teen accused of the attack ran from the scene and returned home Monday morning. His father called police to turn him in, police said.
Police are not releasing names, because the boys are juveniles. The 15-year-old is in custody. He will be facing a second degree assault charge.
Monday, investigators were hard pressed to say what started the argument right after the night-time service at Faith Baptist Church.
“Brothers sometimes have anger that develops over time and this appears to be it, because it wasn’t a very long argument, or a long discussion,” Longmont Police Commander Jeff Satur said.
Satur said the argument happened right outside the car where the boys’ mom was sitting. It appears she witnessed the argument but didn’t have enough time to stop it.
