
Rep. Dave Camp, powerful chairman of the tax-writing House Ways and Means Committee, will not seek re-election in the fall.The Michigan Republican congressman announced Monday that he decided not to run this year “after much consideration and discussion with my family.”
“Serving in Congress is the great honor of my professional life,” Camp said. “I am deeply grateful to the people of the 4th Congressional District for placing their trust in me. Over the years, their unwavering support has been a source of strength, purpose and inspiration.”
Camp is the second committee chairman from Michigan to announce he’s leaving Congress since last week. On Friday, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers, R-Mich., said he would not seek re-election.
