Michael Allen looked out of his Harlem apartment window Sunday night and saw a stroller outside in the 30-degree weather. He put on his coat and went down to investigate.
When Allen looked inside the stroller, he was shocked to find a baby boy with “eyes like a doe” staring back at him. The baby was dressed warmly, and there was formula in the stroller with him, WPIX 11 reports.
The father of three alerted nearby firefighters, who took the 4-month-old baby—nicknamed “Sunday”—to Harlem Hospital. The baby has since been taken into the care of New York City’s Administration for Children’s Services.
Kenyetta Rowell, 18, believed to be the boy’s mother, turned herself in to police and has been charged with reckless endangerment and false reporting, according to CBS New York. The boy’s father has not been charged, the New York Daily News reports.
Allen told CBS New York that he visited the child in the hospital and left one of his own children’s teddy bears the baby.
